March 15th arrives, the fateful day of technical checks.
My family and I left Switzerland yesterday to join Véroniquer and pupuce. Then we leave early to arrive on time.
Summoned for 12:30 p.m., we start with the vehicle.
The first pitfalls arrive: faulty connection of the irritrack system, the stress goes up a notch...Any anomaly would prevent us from taking the start. But finally, thanks to everyone's involvement, a solution was found.
Then it's up to the sticker to be reviewed. Impossible after the enormous work of our partner ADL publicity SA that it does not suit... and well nevertheless... we will spend several hours to remove and put back several stickers. We will have lost a lot of time but after more than 4 hours the vehicle passed the test.
It's now the crew's turn: administrative and medical checks, presentation of the Sarsat beacons...we're pressed for time but are going through all the workshops to get our passport and our authorization to take the official start the next day.
After an evening with our loved ones and a night's rest, it's finally time for the big departure. Meet at the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. This year we will share the spotlight with the Paris-Nice cyclists!!! What an organization! Véro managed to place Pupuce in the front line. The euphoria and excitement of the start are there and we take advantage of the last moments with the family before the start at 3 p.m.
At this time we take the departure towards Sète to embark the same evening for 43 hours of crossing until Tangier then more than 10 hours of road through Morocco.
We are welcomed by our friend Brahim for one last night in the cozy comfort of Kasbah Said.
Tomorrow will be prologue time! For the moment we are still enjoying a little!
